During a session at the ELO conference, one of the organizers, P.D. Edgar happened to mention that he was training an LLM to write sestinas. My ears perked up, and I made a note to get in touch with him.
(wanting to see for myself what ChatGPT4 would do with a sestina, I played around a bit. “Sestina for a reactive dog.“)
While googling his deets, I found the first issue of re-mediate, a “a critical literary ‘zine fr computer-assisted creative writing,” which he has just birthed into being! I haven’t finished reading the contents of this particular edition, because the website has a content rich apparatus. (does that word apply in this context?) One of the goodies is a reading list which makes for a really good primer for anyone beginning to explore this stuff.
I also found his own contribution to the edition, “On Methods,” another very useful entry point and potential springboard into the various ways and means of writing with/about/through/adjacent to AI.
Very cool!
